1. The Mac app

Friendly Owl for Mac is a fully local time tracker. It captures screenshots, reads them with on-device OCR, and stores the timeline, tags, and time sheets on that Mac. Nothing is sent to Friendly Owl or to anyone else. There is no Friendly Owl account.

• Screenshots and extracted text stay on your Mac.
• Apple Intelligence descriptions, when you turn them on, run on your Mac.
• You can pause tracking, exclude apps, redact words, and delete entries.
• You choose how long screenshots are kept.

2. Backups

Friendly Owl does not keep a copy of your activity. You are responsible for backups, for example with Time Machine. If the Mac is lost or the files are deleted, we cannot restore them.

3. This website

friendly-owl.com is a marketing site for the Mac app. It does not offer an account, and it does not run a product analytics script. The site is hosted by Vercel. Vercel keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type, and the page requested, to run and protect the site.

If you email us, we receive whatever you send, and we use it only to reply.

4. Purchases

The app is sold on the Mac App Store for $29.99, paid once. Apple processes that purchase under Apple's terms. Friendly Owl does not receive your screen contents as part of the purchase.
